3rd Annual Mayor's Youth Summit

Positive Images

The 3rd Annual Mayor's Youth Summit focused on creating a positive image for teens. Workshops aimed to identify where stereotypes come from, and to examine youth in the media.

A video message from Vice President Al Gore welcomed summit participants.

A Workshop at the 2nd Annual Mayor's Youth Summit

The Keynote Speaker was Eric Davis, a member of "Slick Boys," a group of Chicago Police officers who work within the Chicago Housing Projects to show youth that they can rise above a life of crime. The "Slick Boys'" presentations combine rap music, question/answer sessions, and straight talk to emphasize the disastrous effects of violence, gangs and other criminal activities.

Boston All Stars played against Boston Police in a basketball game.
