The MYC advocates for youth by meeting with federal officials during their annual trips to Washington D.C. In January 1995, the council had a special opportunity to discuss youth issues at a meeting with President Clinton and Mayor Menino. In February of 1997, a council representative participated in a round table discussion on Juvenile Justice with President Clinton. In the fall of 1998, the MYC helped facilitate a "town meeting" on technology with Vice President Gore. In the spring of 2000, the entire council met with Attorney General Janet Reno and US Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman. In March 2002 the Youth Council met with the staff from President Bush's Council on Environmental Quality, the EPA, and the Department of Interior. The Council has also met with Senator Kennedy, Senator Kerry, Congressman Moakley, Congressman Capuano, Supreme Court Justice Breyer, FFC Chairman Kennard and CA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
