Step Up and Make It Happen

The 6^th Annual Mayor’s Youth Summit, "Step Up and Make It Happen," focused on the ability of youth to make a difference and offered several ways to become involved.

The theme song, "Ain’t No Stopping Us Now," was performed by the Youth Council and Boston Recording Artists 6ONE7.

Murphy Community Center presented a fashion show, which displayed proper interview attire.

A game show organized by the Youth Council tested participants with local trivia.

TechBoston presented the parts of a computer.

The Mayor’s Youth Council gathered signatures to petition for summer job funding for youth.

A skit about Census 2000 by the youth council stressed the importance of Making Boston Count by reminding everyone to fill out the census.

Youth Council members and Boston Police cooperated in performing a skit about police / teen relationships. Role reversal and emphasis of stereotypes initiated a discussion that involved the entire audience.
