Genzyme Corporation Biotechnology Allston-Brighton Scholarship

Description: Since 2000, Genzyme has funded the Genzyme Science Scholarship Award in each of our communities throughout the United States. The $1,000 award is given by our local partner high school to a student who has excelled in science and who has been selected via the school’s scholarship and awards criteria process. Since 1994, Genzyme has awarded the Allston-Brighton Community Biotechnology Scholarship to more than 50 students from the Allston-Brighton community in Boston, Massachusetts – a total of more than $150,000. Graduating seniors or college students who are residents of Allston-Brighton, MA and who are majoring in a life science field*, may apply for this annual scholarship.
Eligibility: 1. You must have been a resident of Allston or Brighton for the past three years. The three-year residency requirement will be counted as the three-year period ending June 2010. 2. Y ou may be a student at any public, private or parochial secondary school; or if you have previously received a Genzyme scholarship, you may be a student at any college or university. 3. You must be accepted into an accredited college or university and designate a major in a life science* or life science-related field. *Life Science includes: biology, chemistry, microbiology, pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, health sciences, physical therapy, nutrition, chemical engineering, etc. 4. Your overall academic record must be a ‘B’ (3.0) or above.
