| Description: | The scholarships are awarded based upon an essay written by the applicant. You may request an application until December 31st by SENDING A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE. The first place prize is $750, second place is $250, and for the best essay of a student of science or medicine is $500. Top scoring essays may also be eligible for MERF (Mensa Education & Research Foundation) scholarships and will be forwarded for inclusion in the national MERF contest. |
| Eligibility: | You must be a US citizen and live or attend school in the Boston Mensa area, (zip code 01420 through 02675). You must be enrolled at an accredited college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student for the following academic year. |
| Criteria: | Essays will be judged based on a goal statement which should include specific information on experience or steps taken toward the goal, persuasiveness (e.g., how your past achievements/experience and your future planning increase the probability of reaching your goal) and why you think you will succeed. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation will also be considered. |
