New England Baptist Hospital Community Scholarship granted in memory of Cristian Ribeiro Giambrone

| Description: | The New England Baptist Hospital Community Scholarship is provided to students from the Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain and Fenway neighborhoods. Scholarships will be granted for up to $5,000 for each year. In addition, the Hospital will commit to providing part-time summer employment opportunities for students. This summer employment opportunity will provide students with valuable job readiness training and experience in the health care setting. This scholarship is given in memory of Cristian Ribeiro Giambrone, a young man with enormous potential, ambition and talent. As Cristian exemplified, students who apply for this scholarship should demonstrate a commitment to respect, learning and social responsibility. Examples of this commitment can include school experiences, community participation, and family and neighborhood empowerment. Interviews are also required. | Eligibility: | Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or an eligible GED applicant who are entering a one or two-year certification, trade, techinical program, or community college in preparation for a health care career. Recipients of this scholarship must complete two years of work upon graduation at the New England Baptist Hospital. |
| Criteria: | To qualify for this scholarship, you must be: a US citizen or Permanent Resident, resident of Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain or the Fenway neighborhood, graduating high school senior or GED eligible applicant and intending to enter a two-year certification, trade, technical program or community college with the intention of entering the health care field, working at New England Baptist Hospital for two years. While academic performance is not one of the criteria for this application, it is expected that applicants will be able to successfully perform academically in the program of their choice. |
