Description:	In July of 1997, WCVB-TV lost one of its finest reporters. Kirby Perkins, a long-time staff member died of a heart attack at the age of 49. Mr. Perkins spent most of his distinguished career reporting on the people, places, and things that made our community tick; but his true passion always rested with the children. WCVB TV is looking for students who, despite having to overcome adversity and obstacles -- economic, family difficulties, cultural challenges, etc., have excelled academically and truly made a difference at their schools. Students are nominated by a principal or teacher over the course of the academic year. Channel 5 staff members then select students to be profiled in one of our A-Plus reports. We air 2 reports per month. At the end of the year, a special panel chooses from students profiled to recieve scholarship money. The amount is determined each year.
Eligibility:	Must be nominated by a teacher or principal.
Criteria:	Makes a differance in his or her classroom.
