| Description: | Florence M. Howes Memorial Scholarship Fund to both celebrate her life and to commemorate her devotion to the educational achievement of urban children of color participating in the METCO Program. These awards are given each year to memorialize Mrs. Howes' commitment to post secondary education and training. Concurrently, the provision of annual financial assistance reaffirms the METCO community's adherence to Mrs. Howes' vision of educational access for graduating students who deserve to enhance their academic competence. |
| Eligibility: | ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must meet the following criteria: • Participation in the METCO Program and maintenance of at least a B average. • Demonstrate evidence of financial need. • Current and past involvement in community activism and volunteer work within human service organizations. • Completion of admissions process to one or more accredited institutions of higher education. |
